Malthouse

Foreword This book is about the craft of woodwork and gives the reader an insight into the various methods used to appreciate the full potential of using and working with wood. For the woodworker embarking on a career with wood or just as a hobby, this book is ideal as it clearly lays out in very descriptive illustrations and text all the required information from preparing timber to the finished product. Furthermore, it gives an insight into the methods used for jointing wood as well as an-easy-to read description for joinery and furniture construction including the tools required, setting and marking out, assembly, finishes etc. Geoff Malthouse has, over the years whilst working with wood and teaching the craft for a number of years, gained a vast amount of knowledge and experience on the use and beauty of wood. It is gratifying that he has put it all together in this book for others to appreciated and absorb to hopefully pass it on to future generations to do likewise. Christopher Tooke F.I.O.C. Chief examiner for The Institute Of Carpenter |
